CONTRETEMPS

E.g. to have a problem or adversity.

In short, yesterday was the result of a few contretemps from the previous night. I’ve realised through this blogging process that there seems to be only good words and bad words to describe the two types of days. Yesterday wasn’t great because I felt like a dead badger on the side of the road. One of those kinds of days (if you can find a word for that).

I was watching a film called “lion” about an Indian child adopted by an Australian family who went looking for his lost family back in India. The main character lead by Dev Patel experienced a lot of flashbacks the closer he was to finding his family. When he saw his biological mother for the first time it kicked a nerve within me and a flood of painful memories arrived at my door.

I struggled to get out of my head for the rest of the night and the next morning as I reflected on the scenes I saw in 2015. I’m feeling better as I write this but I will consider getting counseling in the summer if it gets worse. Ayahuasca (the plant based medicine used to help treat traumas) is an option I feel as well.
